Drilling non-productive time
A drilling advisor that shows measured depth against time with every non-productive time event highlighted, classifies each event's root cause from drilling reports, sensor data and maintenance history, compares analogous wells with the best practices found in their resolved events, and predicts the NPT risk of a well being planned.
One working session with the people in the seat: which decisions, which systems, what a good week looks like.
The app you see above, running on your own exports instead of the simulated world. Every screen, every decision, your numbers.
Wired to your systems with your permissions, agents proposing, people approving, the ledger recording who did what.
Overview
Non-productive time is where the drilling budget goes: weather, stuck pipe, repairs, waiting on parts. The causes are written in daily reports nobody re-reads, and the lessons stay with the crew that learned them.
The app brings the drilling reports, time series and well logs together. Each NPT event sits on the depth curve; asking for the cause classifies it from the report text and the sensor signatures with the SOP that applies and a recommendation. Comparing wells shows where the hours differ and the practices that avoided them, and the prediction for a planned well rates its risk by cause from analogous wells and adds the recommendations to the well plan.
Key features
- Analyze NPT root cause: unstructured drilling reports, sensor data, well logs and maintenance history classified into cause categories with the reasoning.
- NPT event comparison: analogous wells side by side with recommendations from SOPs and drilling manuals.
- Uncover best practices: patterns across historical events, root cause analyses and manuals surfaced as practices.
- Predict NPT risk: the risk of a planned well by cause, from analogous wells and the best practices found.
Decisions it produces
- Accept the classified root cause of an event
- Apply a recommended operational change
- Add recommendations to a well plan
- Delete a mis-recorded event
